Circa is proud to be expanding its portfolio of art to include a series of stunning creations from Julian Brooker.
Our Director, David Flatt – long time friend and admirer of Juian – is thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase these unique and insightful pieces in the new Kensington Marmorea showroom.
Amongst them will be the two planets and the array of butterflies (below) – from the exhibition ‘Gold on Glass’ – and also some of Julian’s work in progress including his innovative gilt and gold leaf animal skulls and horns.
Working with with ‘gold on glass’ – taken from the French, Verre eglomise, meaning glass gilded – grew from Julian’s admiration of the beautiful colours in blown glass combined with his longtime passion for all things gold.
Julian takes inspiration from many different areas including old glass making techniques and myths, the works of John Harwood and paintings by J. Grimm and it is, perhaps, this set of diverse creative ideas that make his work truly individual.
Born in London, Julian Brooker has a background in the restoration of antique painted furniture which developed into his work in home interiors and – in the distinctive and opulent style that has become synonymous with his name – designed and decorated some of the most exclusive homes in London and the Home Counties.
Julian accepts commissions and his work is available to view now.
